Tanner Schwartz is a classically trained dancer with a distinguished career performing with some of the most respected ballet and opera companies in the world. He began his training at The Westside School of Ballet in Los Angeles and studied privately with Marat Daukayev, former principal of the Kirov Ballet. At age 13, he moved to New York to study at the renowned School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center.

In 2002, Tanner was awarded the D.A.N.C.E. (Danish American National Cultural Exchange) prize, which led him to dance as an apprentice with the Royal Danish Ballet. He went on to perform professionally with The Pennsylvania Ballet, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, The Metropolitan Opera, and The Washington National Opera, and has appeared as a guest artist with numerous companies and schools across the country.

His repertoire spans a wide range of classical and contemporary works, including over 300 performances of The Nutcracker, Marius Petipa’s Giselle, The Royal Ballet of London’s Sleeping Beauty, George Balanchine’s Rubies, Diamonds, The Four Temperaments, Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, as well as works by Jorma Elo, Lar Lubovitch, Christopher Wheeldon, Val Caniparoli, and Ben Stevenson.

Tanner has also appeared in a variety of acclaimed opera productions, dancing in Des McAnuff’s Faust, Sonja Frisell’s Aida (choreography by Alexei Ratmansky), Deborah Warner’s Eugene Onegin, Otto Schenk’s Rusalka, and more, with choreography by artists including Carmen de Lavallade, Kim Brandstrup, Sara Erde, and Karma Camp.

Tanner brings extensive stage experience, technical depth, and professional insight to his teaching—guiding dancers with both classical discipline and a passion for performance.
