Programs

At Legacy, we believe in cultivating both the technique and the heart of a dancer. Our programs are thoughtfully structured to support growth at every level — from foundational training to pre-professional preparation and performance artistry.

CORE DIVISION 

Ages 6–18

The Core Division provides essential, level-based training in ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, and more. Designed to build strong technical foundations, this program nurtures discipline, musicality, and personal expression in a supportive, relaxed, fun and structured environment. Dancers are placed by age and ability across four progressive levels:
 

  • Level 2: Ages 6–8

  • Level 3: Ages 9–12

  • Level 4: Ages 13–15

  • Level 5: Ages 15–18


This division serves as the gateway to deeper training, artistic development, and the Legacy values that extend far beyond the studio walls.

PRE-PROFESSION DIVISION

Ages 12-18 | Placement & Invitation Only

Legacy’s Pre-Professional Division is designed for dedicated dancers who are ready to deepen their technical excellence and artistic voice. Admission to this program is by placement and invitation only, ensuring that each dancer receives the appropriate level of challenge, mentorship, and support.
 

Dancers in this division commit to a focused training schedule that mirrors the rigor and discipline of collegiate and conservatory programs. Through elevated technique classes, specialized workshops, and performance coaching, students refine their craft while preparing for summer intensives, pre-college programs, and professional pathways.

As part of this experience, Pre-Professional dancers will also have exclusive opportunities to work with members of Legacy’s Advisory Board — a network of industry professionals, choreographers, and educators who bring real-world insight and mentorship to the studio space.
 

Program Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 classes per week

  • Must include:

    • 1 Ballet class per week (additional ballet highly encouraged)

    • 1 Pre-Pro Technique (Technique Development) class

    • 3 elective classes in styles of the dancer’s choosing
       

Select Core Division classes may be approved as substitutions in cases of scheduling conflicts.
 

The Pre-Professional Division is a space for dancers who are not only training — but transforming.

DANCE COMPANY

Ages 9-18 | Placement & Invitation Only 

Legacy In Motion is the official, non-competitive performance company of Legacy Performing Arts Academy. Created for dancers who are eager to share their craft beyond the classroom, the company offers performance opportunities both locally and in New York City, with a culminating Spring Season showcase.

Company members explore ensemble work, choreographic collaboration, and the responsibility of storytelling through movement. This experience is supplemental to Pre-Professional training and provides dancers of all levels with the opportunity to grow as performers and artists.
