Katya is a classically trained dancer, performer, and educator whose career spans ballet, theater, film, television, opera, and commercial dance. The child of Russian immigrants, she began dancing at a young age and received her early training in Los Angeles before continuing at the School of American Ballet and the Boston Ballet School, where she studied on scholarship.
Her ballet training includes work with renowned teachers including Alla Khaniashvili, former prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, Russia,
Katya went on to perform as a ballerina and represented the United States at the prestigious 21st Varna International Ballet Competition, one of the most respected ballet competitions in the world. Following her classical career, she expanded into theater, commercial dance, television, film, and music videos, building a versatile professional background across multiple styles and performance environments.
Her screen and television credits include work with Amazon Prime, NBC Sports, TBS, FX, Fox, and 19 Entertainment, with appearances and performance credits on projects including Crash TV, the ANOC Awards, The Conan Show, Nip/Tuck, Paris by Night, Black Swan, and So You Think You Can Dance Season 7, where she appeared as a contestant.
Since 2014, Katya has performed with The Metropolitan Opera, contributing to large-scale productions that demand technical excellence, musicality, and theatrical artistry. She is currently on faculty at the Harkness School of Dance at 92NY, and previously taught at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.
As an educator, Katya is passionate about helping students of all ages and abilities develop strong technique, artistry, confidence, and performance quality. Her teaching is shaped by her extensive professional experience, classical foundation, and continued dedication to expanding her craft as both a dancer and actor for stage and screen.
